First, you need to become a member of Dog Scouts of America (DSA).  DSA dues are $25 per year for the first human and $5 per year for each additional participating human in the household.  Participation at the troop level is a "perk" of national membership.  This can be done at the DSA website: www.DogScouts.org  Printing the membership form and sending it with a check is recommended over using Paypal which has had problems getting through to the main office in the past.

Cadet Scout: This title is available through DSA and when you pledge to uphold the Dog Scout laws, you can register your dog as a Cadet Scout.  Visit the membership page of the www.DogScouts.org website for additional information.  Dues to DSA are renewed one year from date of payment.  The Cadet Scout title does not require any testing.  However, prior to using the title of "Dog Scout" you and your dog need to pass the Dog Scout test.

Then join the troop: (National and local memberships can be done the same day) Troop dues are $12 per year per household and can be sent to the address at the top of this page or given to the troop leader at a meeting.  Troop dues are renewed each January and are cut to $6 for new members joining  between July to November to cover the remainder of the year.

Note: There are separate fees for the processing of badge forms.  The fee for the DSA certification is $35 and the fee for each additional specialty badge is $25.  These fees are due when you send in badge forms to DSA.  If you would like to learn the badge activities but not get the patches, that is free.
